Jesus & the Buddha Lyrics, song by Entrance

About Jesus & the Buddha Lyrics

A man dreams he participates in the Crucifixion, and interacts with Christ. Then Jesus abruptly transforms into the Buddha. The man receives two epiphanies from the Buddha, which he reveals in the song, one of them oddly when the Buddha quotes the Blackfoot tribe. All in all, a once in a lifetime dream which changes the singer’s perception of his own life.

Jesus & the Buddha Lyrics

(Whitaker/Kelley 2015)
Verse 1
I dreamt I stood below Jesus on the cross,
He peered down, blood dripping, tears dropping, then cried,
“You’re a lost little man, lost, lost, join the cross,
come up here with me.” So I tried, and I died . . .
held his bloody face; soldier’s spear rammed us both;
we flew from Judah, He became the Buddha.

Chorus
If you take care of all others,
then you’ll find you will often do,
magically, fulfill you too.
A mystery
for me and you.

Verse 2
The Buddha quoted Blackfoot tribe, who once said,
“Life is not separate from death, it only
looks that way.” We’re always both, alive and dead.
Dreams are how we talk to both sides of ourselves.
“Life is not separate from death, it only
looks that way.” We’re always both, we’re two instead.

Chorus
If you take care of all others,
then you’ll find you will often do,
magically, fulfill you too.
A mystery
for me and you.

About the Book

With a general Introduction, and introductions to each topic, the rest of the book organizes hundreds of sayings attributed to Jesus, Buddha, Krishna and Lao Tzu–from hundreds of texts–into such topics as, “The Great Way” and “God, Tao and Universal Mind,” and assembles sayings in sequence, since four parallel columns of the printed book can’t be created for Kindle.

The Parallel Sayings demonstrates the common thread that runs through all mystical traditions. The author/editor prefaces each top with an introduction that is insightful and sends a powerful message that will be welcomed by all who seek the truth within, and within their own spiritual tradition.

“A Priceless treasury of interfaith understanding.”

Brother David Steindal-Rast, O.S.B.

“These gems [the sayings] capture the perspective of each spiritual tradition and reveal the universality of wisdom. The beauty of Hoopert’s work is that his camparisons do not attempt to make any tradition right or wrong. He simply finds the common ground.”

Science of Mind Magazine

“A much needed journey into the minds and hearets of the great prophets of our world; academic, yet heart-filled, stimulating and illuminating . . . This rare text answers many questions that others leave hanging.”

Alan Cohen, auther of A Deep Breath of Life and co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul

“I was very much taken by the idea of this book when I first learned it was in the making, but the execution of it–the reality of it–is just wonderful.”

Carol Lee Flinders, Ph.D, author of Enduring Lives: Portraits of Women and Faith in Action.

“Richard Hooper sends a powerful message that will be welcomed by all who see the truth within, and within their own tradition.”

Jeffrey M. Cox, President, Snow Lion Publications.

“Richard Hooper takes you beyond what the holy men said, and into the heart and mind that drove the likes of Gandhi and Francis of Assisi.”

Larry Moffitt, United Press International.

“. . . Hooper presents basic building blocks of world spirituality . . . Here one finds our common thread in the universality of spirituality. World peace might be achieved if we understood life and the divine as presented here.”

Adrian Ravarour, Ph.D, Bishop, The American Catholic Chruch

“”This beautiful book is much-needed. The profound parallel sayings are judiciously selected and demonstrate the universal insights of the major religons. The author’s commentary is searingly hones and totally unphony.”

Eleanor Rowe, Ph.D; W.W. Rowe, Ph.D.

About the Book
JESUS & BUDDHA
THE PARALLEL SAYINGS
This remarkable collection reveals how Jesus and Buddha—whether talking about love, wisdom, or materialism—were guiding along the same path. Jesus & Buddha also delves into the mystery surrounding their strikingly similar teachings and presents over one hundred examples from each.As a Christian, I grew up with Jesus and have lived with him all my life. I have not lived with the Buddha. Similarly my work on this book was from the vantage point of a Jesus scholar. But my experience has led me to the conclusion that their teachings about ‘the way’ are virtually identical and that together they are the two most remarkable religious figures who ever lived.”
—Marcus BorgYou hold in your hand a remarkable and beautiful book. Jesus and Buddha are now meeting in an encounter of the spirit. When we listen deeply to their words we find that in many ways, they speak with one heart. If we could enact even one verse from these teachings, it would have the power to illuminate our hearts, free us from confusion and transform our lives.”
—Jack Kornfield
